The Best of the Bay...
Santiago Atitlán and Hotel Bambú offers activities and enjoyment for all kinds of tastes. Swim Lake Atitlan's pristine waters, sunbath by the pool, paddle a traditional canoe (cayuco), stroll the streets of Santiago and admire the colorful Tz'utujil Maya and their beautiful crafts. Santiago Atitlán is a town of artists and artisans; known for its naive painters, embroideries, handloom textiles and wood carvings.
Visitors can not leave without visiting Maximón, a local Mayan deity. Offer Maximón liquor and tobacco and he will protect and guide you in your endeavors (be they good or evil) as he has the Tz'utujil for centuries.

Of Special Note:

How to find us:
To get here from Guatemala City or from Antigua, the most comfortable way is by taking a shuttle to Panajachel, the price is $12.00 and the trip takes from two to three hours. Once in Panajachel go to the public boat dock and take a collective boat ($3.50) and tell the captain that you wish to be dropped off at the Hotel Bambu dock.
Another option is to take the large public boat ($2.00) to the public boat dock in Santiago and from there you can take either a small boat or taxi to the hotel. If you have your own transportation from Guatemala city take the highway to Escuintla to Cocales to San Lucas Toliman and then to Santiago Atitlan. We are located on kilometer 16 (San Lucas - Santiago).
