Few traveler go to the market in Solola, but I have no idea why not. I doubt there is a more colorful market on the planet. Add to that a spectacular view of the lake, plus it near Panajachel. It's not to be missed.
On Tuesdays and Fridays (market days) we will pick you up at your hotel in Panajachel and take you up to Solola for a few hours. There is not much in the way of tourists trinkets. As I say not many tourists go there, but what crafts there are (mostly weavings) is meant for the Mayans themselves and therefore better made. Your bi-lingual guide will lead you through the market and explain what the different – often weird – things you'll see for sale are.
